Beyonce: Single Ladies = Long Term Joke

photo borrowed from Beyonce Official Website.
Beyoncé is considering scrapping her 'Single Ladies' dance routine for live performances, according to reports.

The singer is considering ditching the routine, which has been mimicked by artists including Liza Minnelli, Joe Jonas and Justin Timberlake, because she does not want to be part of the joke.

More info HERE.

I don't get it, she thinks that her own dance routine is a big joke? Well, as they say, imitation is the best form of flattery. I love the Single Ladies dance! If only I could dance like that.

Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! premiered in Dubai last week. The boyfriend and I had free tickets (courtesy of my boss).

He wasn't really excited to see this movie and to be frank, the only reason why I asked for the tickets is just to grab the opportunity of watching something for free.

We came early. Not that it was intentional. (Un)fortunately the roads were clear that night. So we waited for a while and made our way to the concession stand.

Nachos, our only consolation for this night out, is out of stock. So I just grabbed a bucket of caramel popcorn and soda instead. The boyfriend didn't even bother to eat anything at all.

Once inside the cinema, we took our seats and comfortably sat in silence. That didn't last for long. People started coming in and you can feel excitement and anticipation in the air. I continued munching my popcorn.

As soon as the first scene flashed in the big screen, the lady beside me started singing along with Sophie. I wouldn't have minded that much if only she had chewed gum first!

I guess most of the people here are not yet used to "musicals". Or at least the crowd that night wasn't. Most of them started walking out of the theater 10 minutes later. Some of them would laugh out loud at every scene.

But I must admit, I found myself silently singing Mamma Mia!; Money money money, Chiquitita and every other ABBA song. People actually sang Dancing Queen.

It was an enjoyable movie. But there was something off for me. Streep was ok, but I'd have to agree with this:

Streep has a sweet voice and knows how to use it but it’s sad to watch a perfectionist remove part of her brain and try to convince us she’s having a jolly time.

It just didn't do it for me. But I'd still give the movie thumbs up.

Oh by the way, I caught the boyfriend sleeping during the film. LOL!

Incomplete

It was J 's Alanis entry that pushed me to listen to Ms. Morissette's album; Flavors of Entanglement.

I can so relate to "incomplete"

One day I'll find relief
I'll be arrived
And I'll be friend to my friends who know how to be friends
One day I'll be at peace
I'll be enlightened and I'll be married with children and maybe adopt
One day I will be healed
I will gather my wounds forge the end of tragic comedy

I have been running so sweaty my whole life
Urgent for a finish line

And I have been missing the rapture this whole time
of being forever incomplete
Yeah, I've been running my whole life...just wanting to get there. I may be funny, but I'm not always happy.

And yes, I'm considering adoption. It's just something I want to do. Basta, yun na yun!

One day my mind will retreat
And I'll know God
And I'll be constantly one with her night dusk and day
One day I'll be secure
Like the women I see on their thirtieth anniversaries
I love Alanis' version of God. http://planetsmilies.net/happy-smiley-57.gif

Ever unfolding
Ever expanding
Ever adventurous
And torturous
But never done
This is just so me. Never done...
