Here in Dubai, most people use carlifts (private cars that you hire to take you to and from work, this also means that you share the car with other people. Technically its like car pooling with a fee!) Some people (like me) use transport buses. Here, you get to be with lots of different people from different countries. Ok, ok...its more like you meet lots of indians and pakistanis. Most english people are on a much bigger package so they have their own means of transport.
On our way home today, we were taking the usual route at the usual speed. Just for your information, our driver is such a daredevil. He'd swerve on purpose just to wake you up then you see him grinning in the rear view mirror. He drives way past the speed limit and changes lanes a lot. If I had access to the brakes, I'd step on it all the time! So, there. That's the usual for you.
Well, I guess by now you already know what happened today. Yes, we had an accident. I was sitting in front with my feet resting at the bottom part of the dashboard. (That's the most comfortable position for me coz this van is so small!) Some of my "bus mates" are chatting and some are dozing.
We were about to turn when it happened. There was a car in front of us who gained speed just after he turned, so our driver thought the road was clear. He then looked to his left to check for cars. But what he didn't see is that the car in front of us just stopped. WHAM! My leg hit the dashboard, one person hit the back of the driver's seat (she then realized that her mouth was bleeding coz of the impact) and the others were just like shocked.
Luckily, I was able to brace myself so it wasn't so bad for me. I got bruises tho. I thought I'd take a picture of my legs and post it here but I decided against it coz:
- it's gross; and
- I haven't shaved!! (I guess that's much worse)
Oh well, I might have to find another service.
